Im Jahr 1889 unter der Local Government Act 1888 Huntingdonshire wurde ein Komitat, mit der neuen County Council übernimmt administrative Funktionen aus den Quarter Sessions. Das Gebiet im Norden der Bestandteil des municipal Borough of Peterborough County wurde stattdessen Teil der administrativen Grafschaft von Soke of Peterborough, in Northamptonshire.
