François de Belleforest, an author, poet and translator of France, lived with Sebastian Münster for about twenty years and deserves a memorable credit for his endorsement of Cosmographia to the French public.

La Cosmographie Universelle de Tout le Monde, the version of the reference work published in France, represents the collaboration between de Belleforest and Münster.
De Belleforest translated Cosmographia from German into French, helping to spread Cosmographia across Western Europe, where it could influence other mapmakers such as Braun and Hogenberg.
