Cellarius, Christoph (1638–1707), also known as Christopher Keller, was a German mapmaker specializing in original historical cartography and from 1693 professor of rhetoric and history at the newly founded University of Halle.
Although the old-medieval-modern division of history was previously used by the Italian Renaissance scholars Leonardo Bruni and Flavio Biondo, Cellarius's Universal History divided into ancient, medieval, and new periods helped popularize it. After him, this tripartite format became standard.

The library of the University College in Schmalkalden bears his name, it is called the "Cellarius Bibliothek", in honor of Cellarius.
