Sébastien Pontault de Beaulieu (1612–1674) was an eminent French engineer, who is considered to be the first military topographer, or rather the inventor of that art, during the reign of Louis XIV.

Designer and publisher of a series of plans of French military victories in the 1640s, using della Bella as draughtsman and Collignon or Cochin as etchers (a fine group is at Windsor).
His most famous works are 'Les glorieuses conquêtes de Louis le Grand' (known as 'Grand Beaulieu') covering the years 1643 to 1692 and published posthumously by his niece Reine and a series of 'Plan et Profils' (known as 'Petit Beaulieu').
