A fine antique map of Cape Coast Castle in Ghana, highlighting the historical significance of this slave castle during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The map, titled "Plan Du Fort Anglois Et De La Ville Du Cape De Corse," was created by Jacques Nicolas Bellin in 1750 and features intricate copperplate engravings with hand coloring.
Cartographer:
Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703 – 1772) was born in Paris and served as the hydrographer of France's hydrographic office. He was also a member of the Académie de Marine and the Royal Society of London.
