This antique plan illustrates Brussels in Brabant, along the Senne River, showcasing its fortifications. It references the 1695 French bombardment and was published in the Stedeboek.

Mapmaker: Peter Schenk the Elder (1660–1711), a renowned German engraver and cartographer active in Amsterdam and Leipzig. Schenk’s workshop was carried on by his sons, Jan and Leonard, in Amsterdam. His daughter Maria married Leonard Valck, ensuring the continuation of Gerard Valck’s engraving legacy.

Origin: Theatrum Bellicum, incipiens ad Carolo II Hispaniarum Rege ad Carolum III. Amsterdam, 1702.
