Cartographer: Jacob Roelofs van Deventer, was a Dutch cartographer who made the oldest series of maps of Dutch cities of his time. He became in 1543 Royal Geographer. More than 10 years after the publication of the maps of Jacob van Deventer came Georg Braun and Franz Hogenberg with their city maps based on the maps of van Deventer.
