The battle occurred between Emperor Napoleon's Imperial French army and a corps of Austrians and Württembergers led by Crown Prince Frederick William of Württemberg.
The artwork is created by renowned military painter Théodore Rousseau (1803-1865), known for his works commissioned by the Ministry of War.
