Title: Bataille D’Ocana (10 Sep. 1809).
Antique Battle Print.

The battle of Ocaña took place during the Spanish War of Independence on 1809. It led to the victory of the French under the orders of Marshal Soult against the Spaniards of General Don Juan de Arizagua.

Artist: (Yung) Théodore Rousseau (1803-65), a military painter, his works were made for the Ministry of War.
The young Théodore Rousseau, founder of the Barbizon school, exhibited works from 1831 to 1835 at the Salon de Paris.
