Sphinx of Egypt Old Engraving of Pharaoh’s. Cornelis De Bruijn 1720

Titled: Sfinx Dans Le Premier Portique – Sfinx Dans Le Second Portique.

Original engraving of 2 Sphinx with the body of a lion and the head of a human, usually a pharaoh.

It is an ancient symbol of strength, wisdom, and royalty in Egyptian culture, and was often used as a guardian for temples and tombs.
The most famous example of a sphinx in Egypt is the Great Sphinx of Giza, which stands near the pyramids and is believed to date back to the Old Kingdom period of ancient Egypt, around 2500 BCE.

Artist: Cornelis de Bruijn, also known as Cornelius de Bruyn, was a Dutch artist and traveler who visited Egypt in the 17th century. He made a number of sketches and drawings of the Sphinx during his travels, which were later published in a book called "Voyage au Levant" (Journey to the Levant).
