Title: Ville de Chalon-sur-Saône
Le vray portraict de la ville de Châlon.

Beautiful antique map of the city of Chalon sur Saône, with coats of arms of the city, river and fortifications.
Cartouche head that says "R. fecit anno 1573 Rancurellus". Raymond Rancurel sculptor in Angers in the sixteenth century, realized a plan of Angers in 1575 (Benezit, VIII, 599).

Mapmaker: Sebastian Munster (1488-1552)
Sebastian worked as a lecturer at the University of the Franciscan Order in Tübingen, where he studied astrology to the famous astronomer Johannes Stöffler, in addition to his main work, the Cosmographia.
From 1524 to 1527, he was a professor in Heidelberg and in 1528 in Basel where he taught theology and Hebrew at the University.
He wrote some very extensive work in the field of Hebrew studies, natural science, geography, and theology.
