A beautiful 17th-century colored Woodcut illustration of Rhodes.
Mapmaker: Sebastian Munster (1488-1552) Sebastian worked as a lecturer at the University of the Franciscan Order in Tübingen, where he studied astrology to the famous astronomer Johannes Stöffler, in addition to his main work, the Cosmographia. From 1524 to 1527, he was a professor in Heidelberg and in 1528 in Basel where he taught theology and Hebrew at the University. He wrote some very extensive work in the field of Hebrew studies, natural science, geography, and theology.
