Origin: Meyer's travel books published by the Bibliographic Institute Germany. The company was founded in 1826 by Joseph Meyer (1796-1856) as a publishing bookstore in Gotha and later moved to Hildburghausen. Under the direction of his son Herrmann Julius Meyer, the company moved to Leipzig in 1874.
