Name carried by the northern part of the Netherlands in 1579 (Union of Utrecht) and 1795 (Treaty of The Hague). The United Provinces together the seven provinces of northern Calvinists (Zealand, Holland, Utrecht, Overijsel, Friesland, Groningen [1594] and Gelderland.
Map maker: Gilles Robert de Vaugondy Also known as Le Sieur or Monsieur Robert, and his son, Didier Robert de Vaugondy were leading mapmakers in France during the 1700s.
