Thionville, old 16th century woodcut of the old Town with fortifications and water ways The 13th-century castle, were built by the counts of Luxembourg. Thionville was taken from the Spaniards by Louis II de Bourbon, 4e prince de Condé, in 1643.
Auteur: Sebastian Munster (1488-1552) is one of the most important and famous mapmakers of the mid-sixteenth century, and published two books, an edition of Ptolemy's Geographia, in 1540, with 48 double-page woodcut maps, and his Cosmographia, published in 1544, which contained upwards of five hundred woodcuts, including 24 double-page maps.
