Description: Old map of the Bishopric of Utrecht, which was ruled by the bishops of Utrecht as princes of the Holy Roman Empire. From 1024 it was one of the prince-bishoprics of the Holy Roman Empire, in 1527, the Bishop sold his territories. Original antique map, copperplate engraved with coloring by hand in outline, an decorative image shows the Bishop sitting down a tree.
Mapmaker: George Louis Le Rouge (1740-1779) Active from 1740- till 1785 as a publisher for the King of France. He specialized in atlases of fortifications and plans of cities.
