Description: Antique hand colored engraving of double sailing canoes seen on his return voyage to New Zealand.
Cook landed at the Friendly Islands, Easter Island, Norfolk Island, New Caledonia, and Vanuatu Polynesians.
Tonga became known as the Friendly Islands because of the congenial reception accorded to Captain James Cook on his first visit in 1773.
