Title: Vue des Isles des Larrons - Vue de la Coste du Nord-Ouest de Saypan.

Description: Old map shows the track of Commodore George Anson voyage to the Mariana islands.

Author: Anson, George Anson, Baron, 1697-1762.
Publisher Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703 – 21 March 1772)

George Anson's voyage to the Mariana Islands took place in 1742 as part of his circumnavigation of the globe. During his voyage, he visited several of the islands in the Marianas archipelago, including Guam, Tinian, and Saipan.
Anson's journey was recorded in a number of different sources, including the journals of his crew and the maps and charts that they produced. One of the most famous depictions of the Mariana Islands from Anson's voyage is a series of engravings by Jacques-Nicolas Bellin entitled "Vue des Isles des Larrons" and "Vue de la Coste du Nord-Ouest de Saypan."
These engravings were included in the official account of Anson's voyage, which was published in French as "Relation Historique du Voyage Fait pour la Rondure du Monde" in 1749. The engravings show the islands and coastlines of the Marianas in detail, with accurate depictions of the topography and geography of the region.
Today, these engravings are valuable historical documents that offer insights into the early exploration of the Mariana Islands and the broader Pacific region.
