George Anson's Voyage of Round the World Entrance of Chequetan Mexico 1748

Title: A view of the Entrance of Chequetan or Seguataneo bearing N. E. distant five miles.

A Voyage of Round the World by , George Anson, Baron, 1697-1762

Description: Antique copperplate engraving in hand coloring.
George Anson's voyage was made on the ship HMS Centurion, which set sail from England in September 1740.

The purpose of the voyage was to attack Spanish shipping and settlements in the Pacific Ocean during the War of Jenkins' Ear.
The view of the Entrance of Chequetan was taken during the voyage on November 16, 1741.

The ship was sailing along the coast of what is now Mexico, and the view referred to a bay that was being scouted as a potential landing site for the British forces.
The voyage of Anson lasted for nearly four years, from 1740 to 1744, during which time the Centurion circumnavigated the globe.

The journey was fraught with difficulties, including storms, disease, and attacks by Spanish ships, but Anson and his crew persevered and were ultimately successful in their mission.
