Description: Old antique map of the Chinese province of Chekiang, located across the bay from Shanghai. The map of the Chekiang Delta, shows a number of Islands, an compass rose and sounding of depths. The map is copperplate engraved and is from the time of the trade routes to China.

Cartographer: Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703 – 21 March 1772) Bellin was born in Paris. He was hydrographer of France's hydrographic office, member of the Académie de Marine and of the Royal Society of London. Over a 50 year career, he produced a large number of maps of particular interest to the Ministère de la Marine. Published in Antonine de Prevost d' Exile's Histoire generale des voyages.
