Description: Old antique plan of China by Jean Baptiste for Berlin atlas German edition.
The map is hand colored and coperplate engraved after information from Jean-Baptiste Du Halde .
Du Halde was a French Jesuit historian specializing in China.He collected seventeen Jesuit missionaries' reports and provided encyclopedic survey of the history, culture and society of China and "Chinese Tartary,".

Cartographer: Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703 – 21 March 1772)
Bellin was born in Paris. He was hydrographer of France's hydrographic office, member of the Académie de Marine and of the Royal Society of London. Over a 50 year career, he produced a large number of maps of particular interest to the Ministère de la Marine.
Published in the German edition by Bellin.
