Title: Les Etat De L’Ancienne Pologne.
La France Louis XIV. (1700) - La France Consulat (1803)
Antique map of the Poland borders between 1572 and 1795, with 2 inset maps of France (1700 and 1803) all in hand coloring.
Map History: In 1795, the bordering between Poland and Lithuania was significant, especially in relation to Konigsberg (now Kaliningrad, Russia). The border between Poland and Lithuania was a crucial geopolitical point due to the historical ties between the two nations and the shifting territorial landscape in Eastern Europe. Konigsberg, located between Poland and Lithuania, played a strategic role as a key city in the region. Poland underwent significant political changes, including the establishment of Europe's first Constitution of 3 May 1791. However, these reforms were short-lived, as the Commonwealth was partitioned by neighboring powers, including Prussia and the Habsburg monarchy, in 1795. Throughout this period, the relationship between Poland and France was influenced by religious conflicts, alliances, and the competition for influence in Europe and the Ottoman Empire. In 1795, Poland was partitioned for the third time, leading to the complete dissolution of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. This division involved neighboring powers including Russia, Prussia and Austria, dividing Polish territory among themselves.
