Oldrich Hlavsa Head Study original etching c. 1920
Oldrich Hlavsa (1 November 1889 - 11 February 1936) was a Czech painter.
He was born the youngest of six children in the family of a poor cottager in the German Fisheries (now Rybná Zdobnicí above). After primary school he went to Žamberka where he taught waiter. In his spare moments he devoted himself to his hobby of painting.
In Vienna, where Hlavsa left to wander, He received the first methodological guidance on the special course of drawing. With little savings left at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he worked from 1910-1913.
