Description: Paris Old map with city walls around, original woodcut map with two coat of arms, River Seine (Saquana) and ancient monuments which are still in use today. Sebastian Münster’s map is the Oldest Printed Cityscape of Paris, and was stabbed at the woodcut artist Hans Rudolf Manuel and issued in Book III: Germany 1561 published by Henricus Petrus.
Cartographer: Sebastian Munster (1488-1552) Sebastian worked as a lecturer at the University of the Franciscan Order in Tübingen, where he studied astrology to the famous astronomer Johannes Stöffler. in addition to his main work, the Cosmographia.
Publisher: Henricus Petrus (1508–1579) and his son Sebastian Henric Petri (1546, Basel – 1627, Basel) headed the printer shop of Basel (Basilea in Latin), called Officina Henricpetrina.
