Nicholas of Bari, was an early Christian bishop of the ancient Greek city of Myra in Asia Minor (modern-day Demre, Turkey) during the time of the Roman Empire.
He is revered by many Christians as a saint. Because of the many miracles attributed to his intercession.

Description: Blessing and holding Gospels his white omophorion draped over his arm the figure of Christ and the Mother of God floating on clouds against a gilt background delicately tooled with a quatrefoil pattern the rayed gold halo and border composed of floral designs emulating silver and enamel of the period.
