Italy (Italie) Old 18th Century Map by Claude Buffier, 1786
Title: L'Italie

This original antique map of Italy captures the islands of Sicily, Ustica, Lipari, Panarea, and Sardinia, along with the French islands of Corsica. The map highlights numerous place names along the coastal regions and features a charming decorative title cartouche.

Encircled by lines of latitude, the map originates from an engraving by Herman Van Loon in Paris during the late 1600s. It was later adapted by French engraver Denise Macquart and published in Claude Buffier's Géographie Universelle: Exposée dans les différentes Méthodes qui peuvent abréger l'étude & faciliter l'usage de cette science (Universal Geography: Presented in Different Methods to Simplify and Facilitate the Study and Use of This Science), Paris: Pierre-François Giffart, 1786
