Description: Japan coastlines, Honshu island near Nagoya with note: Northern Point of Japan and by the Dutch in 1643 and by Capt. King in 1779 - Capt. Broughton 1797.

After 1635 and the introduction of Seclusion laws, inbound ships were only allowed from China, Korea, and the Netherlands.

James King was an officer of the Royal Navy. He served under James Cook on his last voyage around the world.
