Cartographer: Jacob Roelofs van Deventer, was a Dutch cartographer who made the oldest series of maps of Dutch cities of his time. He became in 1543 Royal Geographer. Over fifteen years, he created between 250 and 260 city maps, covering an area from Friesland to what is today northern France, reaching into Luxembourg and western Germany.
