Title: Maison Royalle de Neubourg a Rijswijk.

Description: This antique print depicts the Palace of Rijswijk (House of Ryswick), where the Treaty of Rijswijk was signed in 1697. The Treaty of Rijswijk settled the Nine Years' War, which involved France and the Grand Alliance of England, Spain, the Holy Roman Empire, and the United Provinces. The print shows this historic location in the Dutch Republic.

Cartographer/Mapmaker: Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703 – 1772), born in Paris, served as hydrographer to France’s hydrographic office and was a member of the Académie de Marine and the Royal Society of London. The engraving was done by Jakob van der Schley, a Dutch engraver who studied under Bernard Picart. Many plates in the Dutch edition of Prévost’s Histoire générale des voyages bear van der Schley’s signature.

Origin: Published in Histoire générale des voyages by Abbé Prévost d'Exiles, with publishers Meusnier de Querlon and Pierre de Hondt, The Hague, between 1747 and 1780.

Authenticity: We sell only guaranteed original antique maps and prints. A Certificate of Authenticity is available upon request.
