Description:
This 1750 antique print depicts the Kokonor Tartars of the Qinghai region in China, located on the border between Russia and China. The print, created by the famous cartographer Jacques Nicolas Bellin, illustrates the traditional attire and way of life of these Tartars. It is a copperplate engraving made during the explorations of Russia and China in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Cartographer/Mapmaker:
Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703–1772) was a renowned French cartographer, serving as the official hydrographer of the French Navy. He was a member of the Académie de Marine and the Royal Society of London, and is celebrated for his accurate maps and engravings.
