Vietnam print, Annam, Soldier An Nam antique print 1845
Title: Annam Soldat Von Stehenden Heere.
Old antique original print of a Vietnam soldier published by Heinrich Berghaus.
In 1428, a Vietnamese general named Lê Li founded an independent dynasty in Vietnam which lasted till the end of the 18th century. For most of this period the titular sovereigns were puppets, real power being in the hands of the Tr?nh family in Tongking and that of Nguy?n in the southern part of the country, which in 1568 became a separate principality under the name of Cochinchina.
Towards the end of the 18th century a rebellion overthrew the Nguy?n, but one of its members, Emperor Gia Long, by the aid of a French force, in 1801 acquired sway over the whole of present-day Vietnam (Annam, Tongking and Cochinchina).
