Fort Aguada Goa, Coast lines Sumatra by Jean-Baptiste 1775

Description: This 18th century nautical chart, entitled Vues Diverses Du Fort De L'Agouade Pres De L'isle De Goa, Sur La Cote De Malabar, was used by Dutch VOC ships to navigate along the coastlines from Malabar, India, to Sumatra (now Indonesia ) to navigate.
It is a hand-colored copperplate map showing the coastlines in great detail, as well as the locations of forts, towns and other landmarks.
The map is very detailed in hand coloring and shows a wealth of information about the Malabar and Goa coast. The coastlines are shown in detail.

Engraver: J.B.N.D. d'Après de Mannevillette /, Paris circa 1775.
(with a large insect printed near Fort de L’ Agouade)

Publisher cartographer: Jean-Baptiste-Nicolas-Denis (After Mannevillette) a French hydrographer.
He became captain of the East India Company and mapping the coasts of India and China.
He published under the title of Neptune East (1745-1775), maps of these regions which enjoyed an international reputation.
