Title: Jaffenapatam
Description: This is an old antique plan of the fortified town of Jaffna, located in present-day Sri Lanka. Jaffna was an important colonial port during the European colonial period.
Cartographer: Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703 – March 21, 1772)
Bellin was born in Paris and became the official hydrographer of France's Hydrographic Office. He was also a member of the Académie de Marine and the Royal Society of London.
Publisher: This map was published in Antonine de Prévost d'Exile's Histoire générale des voyages.
Engraver: Jakob van der Schley (also known as Jakob van Schley) (July 26, 1715 – February 12, 1779) was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver. He studied under the famous engraver Bernard Picart (1673–1733).
Sheet Size: Approx. 20.5 x 16.5 cm (8 x 6.5 inches).
Image Size: Approx. 18.5 x 12 cm (7.25 x 4.25 inches).
Condition: This is an 18th-century antique engraved historical print in very good condition. It features old hand-coloring and has no flaws.
