Switzerland Forstegg Castle (Forstech) Old print Matthäus Merian 1630
Description: Antique 17th century print of Forstegg Castle, a ruined castle in the municipality of Sennwald of the Canton of St Gallen in Switzerland. It was built around 1200 by the Barons of Sax/Misox, was abandoned in the 19th century and fell into ruin in 1894.
Copperplate engraved with hand coloring.
Cartographer: Matthäus Merian. His main work was in the years 1642 to 1654 Topographia Germaniae, comprising 16 volumes, which were expanded by his heirs to a total of 30 volumes. The lyrics are by Martin Zeiller.
